Code of Ethics

All Deputies shall at all times, recognizing their responsibilities as public servants, shall be particularly attentive to citizens seeking assistance or information or who desire to register complaints and/ or give evidence. Officers shall broaden their knowledge of the county and state and the laws of each, better enabling them to satisfy the demands of the public.

All Deputies shall accept their responsibility to the public by being punctual in their duty assignments and shall be as thorough as possible in the conduct of their tasks.

All Deputies shall regard their office as a public trust and in the discharge of their duties be mindful of their primary obligation to serve the public efficiently and effectively.

All Deputies shall administer the law in a just, impartial manner, affording the same reasonable treatment to all cases. They shall recognize limitations of their authority and shall not at any time use the power of their office for their own personal advantage.

All Deputies shall be mindful of their obligation as the custodians of public property bearing in mind that the misuse or waste of said property is as serious and reprehensible as the misuse or waste of funds from the public treasury.

All Deputies shall not limit their effectiveness in the administration of their office by accepting gratuities or favors from citizens or companies with whom they may have official dealings.

All Deputies shall co-operate fully with other public officials to assure the safety and general welfare of the public. They shall not permit their personal feelings or differences influence their ability to work with other officers or other government agencies.

All Deputies shall strive to improve themselves as professional practitioners of the criminal justice system. They shall welcome the opportunity to seek and receive additional in-service training in their field and shall assist fellow officers in educating the public for safety purposes.

All Deputies shall conduct their public and private lives in such a manner so that the public might regard them as examples of stability, moral character, and fidelity.

Nothing less shall be acceptable.

All Deputies shall bear allegiance to their government, and be loyal to the profession of police service. They shall accept as a sacred obligation their responsibility to support the Constitution of the United States, and as public officers, they shall consider the responsibility of defending the principle of liberty, as defined by our Constitution and laws, the greatest honor that may be bestowed upon man.
