The
Sheriff Sales are held once a month on a
Thursday. They are
conducted on the first floor of the Belmont County Courthouse,
101 West Main Street, St. Clairsville, Ohio in the Commissioners
Meeting Room #11. All sales begin at
2:00 p.m.
It is
an open bid process with the starting bid being 2/3 of the
appraised value. This appraisal was not an inside inspection of
the property and the Sheriff and Appraisers are not liable for
the condition of the property.
We do not have access to the
insides of the homes.
The
buyer must provide 10 % down of the final bid at the time of
sale. All money will be handled by the Clerk of Courts office.
They accept personal checks, certified checks, cash and money
orders.
The
Sheriff’s Office does not research the properties. It is the
buyer’s obligation to do any type of research regarding liens or
taxes that may follow a property.
The
sales are also advertised in the classified section of The Times
Leader on Wednesdays. The advertisement will provide specific
information regarding the legal description of the property and
the bank's information.
